It started with Adam and Eve in the Garden. Satan came to Eve and said, “Did God actually say…” (Genesis 3:1) Adam and Eve had everything they could possibly need in that Garden. However, rather than being content with what God had given them, they had their eye on the one thing God told them not to touch, and so when Satan came and lied to them about what God really meant when He told them not to eat of that tree, they fell victim to his lies. Ever since that time, men (and women) have been falling victim to Satan’s lies. It’s not always Satan himself who speaks these lies to us, it is often people we trust or people we know or hear in public through their written and spoken words.
God’s commandments are still as true and relevant today as they were the day He spoke them, and we still must obey them, or else face the consequences. And while it may seem at times that people all around us disregard and disobey God’s laws, and seem to be perfectly fine in doing so, that in no way makes it right for us to disobey them. Not if we truly know God and want His blessing on our lives that is.
In today’s world people argue, there’s nothing wrong with sex outside of marriage. Yet, God’s Word teaches “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.” (Hebrews 13:4)
People argue, it’s okay to not tell the truth sometimes. However, the Bible says “Lying lips are an abomination to the LORD, but those who act faithfully are his delight.” (Proverbs 12:22)
People argue, it’s fine and natural to hate those who are rude or mean to us. But, God said, “But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” (Matthew 5:44)
God’s Word is full of what is Right and what is Wrong, and GOD DID mean EVERYTHING that His Word says! We can either believe the lies or we can believe God. There is no middle ground!
