In 2 Kings 3, we read an interesting account. The kings of Israel, Judah, and Edom and their armies were gathered together to fight against the king of Moab and his army. They had gathered in a wilderness area, and as they marched and prepared for battle, they found that there was no water for the armies to drink. So, the king of Isreal went to talk to the prophet Elisha. Read here what Elisha finally told him after seeking guidance from the Lord.
“For thus says the LORD, ‘You shall not see wind or rain, but that streambed shall be filled with water, so that you shall drink, you, your livestock, and your animals. This is a light thing in the sight of the LORD. He will also give the Moabites into your hand, and you shall attack every fortified city and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree and stop up all springs of water and ruin every good piece of land with stones.’ The next morning, about the time of offering the sacrifice, behold, water came from the direction of Edom, till the country was filled with water.” (2 Kings 3:17-20)
I love Elijah’s word, “This is a LIGHT thing in the sight of the LORD!” They are out in a dry wilderness, and it’s a LIGHT thing, or we might say “Piece of cake!”, for God to bring water to them even without rain? Certainly! God can do anything! How often do we seem to forget that! We serve the same God today that Elijah served, and He is able to meet and supply ALL of our needs, even when it seems impossible!
Now, that doesn’t mean He will always do the impossible to meet our wants. No, He has promised to meet and supply ALL of OUR NEEDS! And all that we need is what is part of HIS will and what is pleasing to Him. But, when we faithfully follow Him, He can move mountains or even bring water without rain if necessary. Absolutely NOTHING is impossible with God! “For nothing will be impossible with God.” (Luke 1:37)
