We live in an “Hurry UP” “Instant Gratification” “Give it to me NOW!” world. We, like the prodigal son want everything to happen on our timetable and in our way and according to our plans. However, as a Christian, we must learn to wait upon God. We must learn to trust Him. We must learn that, ” they who wait for the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 40:31) and many times, we have to “Be still, and know that I am God.” (Psalm 46:10)
God sent Jesus into the world at HIS timing. “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,” (Galations 4:4). And even then, Jesus waited until He was 30 years old before He began His ministry. That was God’s plan!
David was anointed king, and yet for many years – he had to wait for God’s perfect timing. Joseph was in prison for something he didn’t even do, and even when it looked like he would be set free, the chief cupbearer forgot all about him, and it wasn’t for a long while afterwards that Pharoah had a dream, and then (at God’s perfect time) he remembered Joseph in prison, and God’s plan was put into action.
We get so caught up in trying to “MAKE” things happen when they don’t happen fast enough, or doubting God when He doesn’t answer our prayers immediately. However sometimes, we just have to learn to wait and trust God. He will ALWAYS do what is best.
