In the world in which we live, it is always easy to compare our lives with others. We may look at those who have lots of money, and claim it’s not fair, because we don’t have much money. We may look at those who have great relationships, or who are personal friends with influential people, and complain “I wish I knew them…” And we may look at those who seemingly never have any problems in life, and grumble because we seem to have new problems all the time.
However, if you read the story of Job in the Old Testament, you’ll read God’s words, “Shall a faultfinder contend with the Almighty?” Or as Romans 9:20 reminds us, “But who are you, O man, to answer back to God? Will what is molded say to its molder, ‘Why have you made me like this?'” God has a reason for everything that happens to us as His children, and we can’t judge our lives as followers of Jesus Christ by others…we have to let God do whatever He wants.
We can read the Bible and see that God doesn’t always do what seems “fair” to us. Some people disobey God one time and He kills them, and others continue to disobey and He seems to do nothing. He makes some people kings and He chooses the life of servanthood for others. Some people, God amazingly blesses with material goods, and others have to scrounge for even a piece of bread.
Following God is NOT about what is “Fair”, it is about what He chooses, and what He has planned for us. He knows exactly what is best for our lives, and that is why He tells us, we must lose control of our lives and allow Him to work as only He can. That is the best we can experience, because when we let Him do whatever He chooses, and don’t complain or grumple or gripe about it, we find God’s best blessings and fellowship await us! It’s not about what’s “Fair”, it’s about what does God want to do through us today? That’s all that matters!
