When speaking about trusting God and not allowing things to worry him, George Mueller said, “Though all believers in the Lord Jesus are not called upon to establish orphan houses, schools for poor children, etc., and trust in God for means to run them; yet all believers, according to the will of God concerning them in Christ Jesus, may cast, and ought to cast, all their care upon Him who careth for them, and need not be anxiously concerned about anything”
1 Peter 5:7 commands us, “casting all your anxiety on Him, because He cares for you.” In other words – give ALL your worries and cares to God! He knows exactly what to do and when to do it.
Philippians 4:6 says, “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
In Matthew chapter 6, Jesus was speaking and He said;
“No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and wealth. For this reason I say to you, do not be worried about your life, as to what you will eat or what you will drink; nor for your body, as to what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they? And who of you by being worried can add a single hour to his life? And why are you worried about clothing? Observe how the lilies of the field grow; they do not toil nor do they spin, yet I say to you that not even Solomon in all his glory clothed himself like one of these. But if God so clothes the grass of the field, which is alive today and tomorrow is thrown into the furnace, will He not much more clothe you? You of little faith! Do not worry then, saying, ‘What will we eat?’ or ‘What will we drink?’ or ‘What will we wear for clothing?’ For the Gentiles eagerly seek all these things; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. So do not worry about tomorrow; for tomorrow will care for itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” (Matthew 6:24-34)
Now, when George Mueller started life as an adult, he had PLENTY to worry about, because even though he had grown up in church, he was far from trusting God. He chose to follow the world and “have fun”. Yet, it wasn’t long before he found that there is NO LASTING FUN in the world, and at the end of his rope, he gave himself COMPLETELY to God and from that moment learned that with GOD in control, we have NOTHING AT ALL to worry about.
Jesus said in the passage above, you can choose to follow the world and worry about everything, or you can choose to FOLLOW ME! And WORRY ABOUT NOTHING! Because when we seek God with ALL of our HEART and give EVERYTHING and EVERY DAY COMPLETELY to HIS control, and we SEEK FIRST HIM and HIS plan, HIS will, HIS desires for our life – we find that ALL things work together for good to those who LOVE GOD!
Why Worry, When You Can PRAY?
