Let’s face it, we all make lots and lots of choices and decisions each and every day of our lives. As I often tell the young people whom I speak to – every choice we make affects the rest of our life, so we need to make the right choices!
Of course, obviously, the closer we walk with God, the more we will know what pleases Him and know what the right choices are! Remember, Proverbs 9:10 tells us, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” The more we understand and know God, the more wisdom and knowledge we will have in our lives.
Dr. John MacArthur has put out a list of Questions to Consider in Decision Making:
1. Will it be spiritually profitable?
2. Will it build me up?
3. Will it hinder me in running the race of faith?
4. Will it be likely to start a habit?
5. Will it be consistent with Christ likeness?
6. Will it glorify God?
Remember, our choices and decisions we make each day define who we are and who we become. Don’t make them lightly and don’t think it doesn’t matter. Everything we do matters, that’s why Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 10:31, “So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”
