James 1:8 reminds us, “a double-minded man, is unstable in all his ways.”
WAY too many people in this world today claim to be Christians, yet want to follow the world as well. They can’t make up their minds. Being double-minded is not being able to make up one’s mind about stuff. For example: “Do I want to serve God?” “Yes….But I don’t want to give up this or that, or I don’t think we have to obey all of His commandments.”
Too many of us try to straddle the fence between the world and God. Some days we’re all excited about surrendering everything to God and then some days we’re all pumped up by this world and our friends about “having fun with the world”. AND then what do we do, we just try to mix them together. “Well, God wants us to have fun!”
That was the problem of the church at Laodicea. The message God told John to deliver to them in the book of Revelation was: “And to the angel of the church in Laodicea write: The words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of God’s creation. ‘I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. Would that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.'” (Revelation 3:14-16) God was sick of their double-minded attitude.
We need to make up our minds. Either give EVERYTHING to GOD and serve HIM or just go on like sheep following the crowd of this world that doesn’t even have a clue where they are headed. Either God is 100% TRUE and FAITHFUL or else He’s NOT at all.
The Bible in one of the last verses of Revelation tells us: “Let the evildoer still do evil, and the filthy still be filthy, and the righteous still do right, and the holy still be holy.” (Rev. 22:11) Meaning “Make up your mind! If you’re going to follow Jesus, then FOLLOW HIM! Or else, give up pretending to be a Christian and follow the world.” Like Joshua wrote in the book of Joshua, “Choose you this day whom you will serve!”
What choice are YOU making with YOUR life?
