In Philippians 4:19 we read this amazing promise, “And my God will supply all your needs according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” When we give Him our life and do what He commands us to do, His promises to us are never failing and guaranteed. George Mueller, who faithfully trusted God and saw Him supply everything he needed is quoted as saying, “If the Lord fails me at this time, it will be the first time.” And of course, God didn’t fail him.
Peter reminds us of these great and precious promises in 2 Peter 1:2-5, “Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord; seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence. For by these He has granted to us His precious and magnificent promises, so that by them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world by lust.” His power (the power of ALMIGHTY GOD) has given us EVERYTHING we need to live the life God has planned for us, and to follow and obey Him.
Now, notice none of these promise to supply or give us everything WE WANT. There are many things we may want in life that God knows we don’t really need, or He knows would ruin and destroy our life. He only promises to supply all that we need in order for us to life the life HE wants us to live and in order for us to follow and obey HIS commandments.
People all the time break contracts and agreements. Sometimes they may argue, “Oh, well I had the best intention to honor that, but things happened that prevent me from being able to.” However, God has NEVER broken one of His promises and He never will. Every promise He has made us is iron-clad, guaranteed, unbreakable. He after all is God and has at His disposal ALL of the resources in the entire world and more.
God promised to bless Abraham, and Abraham obeyed and trusted God to do what he said. Hebrews 6:13-15 reminds us of this, “For when God made the promise to Abraham, since He could swear by no one greater, He swore by Himself, saying, ‘I WILL SURELY BLESS YOU AND I WILL SURELY MULTIPLY YOU.’ And so, having patiently waited, he obtained the promise.”
We too can completely trust in God and His promises. He has NEVER failed a single one, and He never will. This world and everything else we may “trust” in will fail us, so why not trust and obey the ONLY one who can NEVER EVER FAIL!
