I spoke this morning to a group of students at a local Middle School. As I usually do, I laid out the shirt and trousers I was going to wear last night, so I wouldn’t have to get up earlier. The shirt I had put out last night was a plaid buttoned casual shirt, however after I put it on this morning, I thought “you know…I think I’ll wear a different shirt…”, and so I opened my closet and after looking at my choices, pulled out a navy blue buttoned shirt.
I spoke to a large group of young people this morning, and it was amazing. Afterwards as the young people were gathering around me asking me questions, asking if they could take a photo with me, etc., one of the girls said, “Your speech was awesome! And I think it’s really cool that you wore a navy blue shirt!”
I thought, “that’s kind of odd…but I guess she likes navy blue or something.” But then, I noticed that several of the students had navy blue on. Navy blue shirts, pants, sweaters, or other items.
One of the teachers had overheard the girl mention the navy blue and afterwards said to me. “A lot of the young people mentioned that they thought it awesome that you wore navy blue. One of the girls in our school lost her father a couple of weeks ago, and today to honor him, people are wearing navy blue.”
I had no clue about why people were wearing navy blue, but God did. And I truly believe God is the one who made me decide to wear a different shirt this morning. I hardly ever switch an outfit after I’ve put it out the night before, but God know it would have a small impact on some young people this morning.
Jesus said in Luke 12:6-7, “Are not five sparrows sold for two cents? Yet not one of them is forgotten before God. Indeed, the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Do not fear; you are more valuable than many sparrows.”
God cares about even the simple things in our lives. His love for us is awesome and amazing. There is nothing at all in our lives that is not of importance to Him. Sometimes we feel God doesn’t really care about certain choices we make and things we think are insignificant. However, God does care for each and every one of us more than we can ever imagine. He loves us and wants only what is best for us in this life and for all of eternity. If that doesn’t make us want to love Him more – we’ve got some serious issues to work out in our relationship with God.
He cares for you!
