Lots of people claim to give God control of their lives yet it’s like they say, “Okay, God you can do whatever you want with my life, I just need to give final approval before you do anything.” We too often claim to want to follow Him, but only as long as He doesn’t send us to Africa as a missionary, doesn’t put us in the poor house, doesn’t make our lives too difficult, or doesn’t do any number of other things. Well, guess what…God DOESN’T work that way. We can NEVER truly KNOW God until we COMPLETELY give Him everything. And when we “GIVE” Him everything – He can do WHATEVER He wants with our lives.
In Matthew 16:24-25 the Bible tells us, “Then Jesus said to His disciples, ‘If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow Me. For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.'” He said, if we TRULY want to follow God and allow Him to work in and through our lives – we have to LOSE COMPLETE CONTROL of our lives. We have to SURRENDER ALL to Him. That’s not easy for us to do in this world. This world is all about making your own way, doing what’s best for yourself, etc., but the TRUE Christian life is exactly opposite – it’s ALL ABOUT GOD.
We can’t say “God I give you my life – now here’s what I want…….” We must realize and understand that GOD is 100% PERFECT, ALMIGHTY, CREATOR – GOD. He knows EXACTLY what is best for every single moment of every single day of our lives. We were created in HIS IMAGE – to be LIKE HIM! We have to STOP trying to force Him to do things our way – and learn to trust Him and watch Him do with our lives what ONLY HE CAN DO!
Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God…” It’s not easy for us to just give up control of everything, not knowing what will happen. David wrote in Psalm 16:11, “You will make known to me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; In Your right hand there are pleasures forever.” When we give up everything to follow Him, we get to know Him in such amazing ways. He then can clearly direct our paths, and we can experience the joys and pleasures of daily fellowship with Him.
Let God be God, and let Him guide you daily and completely control your life. You’ll never regret it.
