Lots of people, especially younger people, want adventure in their life – and so they go to the pleasures of this world to try to find that. However, the REAL adventure is learning to COMPLETELY trust God and have HIM work in your life every minute of every day.
A man referred to by many simple as Brother Andrew has smuggled Bibles into communist countries and forbidden places for years and has certainly seen his share of “adventure”. If you read his biography you’ll read stories of narrow escapes across borders into those countries with his little VW filled with forbidden Bibles. And while most of us will not experience those kind of adventures, just trusting God and leaving everything to Him can be an adventure as we see God work in ways only HE can.
Brother Andrew tells a story of how he was in London in the early 1950’s training to be a missionary. He had determined that he was simply going to trust God to lead him and to supply for him. One time he was completely out of detergent to wash his clothes, and so he prayed to God, telling God it wouldn’t be good for him to go around the town smelling bad because he didn’t have money to buy soap! Laundry soap at that time in London was 8 pence, and all Andrew was able to scrounge up was 6 pence. So, he started walking towards the store thinking perhaps he would find 2 pence laying on the sidewalk somewhere. However, he got to the store and still only had 6 pence. He was about to complain to God until he happened to look in the store window and saw the sign that said, “SOAP SALE – 6 PENCE”! God knew all along that all he needed was 6 pence, and that was what God provided!
Romans 11:33 reminds us, “Oh, the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are His judgments and unfathomable His ways!” If you want REAL adventure in your life – learn to give up EVERYTHING and COMPLETELY trust your life to God’s control. The closer you walk with Him, the more you’ll see Him work in ways you never could dream possible. You’ll have to sacrifice most of this world’s wisdom and pleasures to get to that point in your life – but if you REALLY want to see God work you have to seek Him with ALL of your heart.
