The Bible tells us in 1 Chronicles 16:11, “Seek the LORD and His strength; Seek His face continually.”
I recall one time about 10 years ago while in a meeting, a co-worker yelled at me and openly disapproved of the work I had done on a particular project, just because they didn’t like the way I did it. A couple of hours later, this same co-worker came by my desk and asked if I wanted to go grab lunch. I was quite surprised and said, “You just yelled at me and openly bashed my work in a meeting, and now you want to go grab lunch?” They looked at me with a laugh, and replied, “Oh…that was just work! We can still have lunch, we just won’t talk about work.”
Lot’s of people live what some would call a multi-personality lifestyle. They are completely different people based on who they are around and what circumstances they find themselves in. I’ve never seen the point in that. I’m the same person, no matter where you run into me at.
And in regards to living out our faith in God, many people have the same issue. They live one life when they are at church or when hanging out with fellow believers, but then – they live a completely different life when they are not around other christians. The Bible tells us that we are to CONTINUALLY seek God. We are to ALWAYS be seeking Him with ALL of our heart and striving to do what is PLEASING to Him.
We may be able to hide our “second life” from some of our fellow believers and even from family, but we can’t hide ANYTHING from GOD. He knows even the thoughts that enter our mind, and He sees us wherever we are. The Christian life can ONLY be lived truthfully and successfully when we are plugged into God and HIS power and strength.
In John 15:5, Jesus reminds us, “I am the vine, you are the branches; he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for APART FROM ME you can do NOTHING.”
The key to success in our relationship with God is to always do what is pleasing to Him, and seek to follow Him CONTINUALLY.
