I am not a fan of cold weather, and so I don’t really care for the fall and winter seasons due to the fact that the weather gets colder and colder. However, the one thing I do LOVE about the fall is when all of the leaves change colors. I love driving up in the mountains during the fall and seeing all the beautiful scenery as the changing leaves paint a kaleidoscope of colors across the landscape.
But do you know what makes the leaves change from green to multiple other colors and become so beautiful? They die! And that to me is an excellent picture of the Christian life. The more we die to self, to the flesh, to this world, to the temptations that surround us, the more beautiful our lives become!
One of my favorite quotes of George Müller’s is this, “There was a day when I died, utterly died — died to George Müller, his opinions, preferences, tastes, and will; died to the world, its approval or censure; died to the approval or blame even of my brethren and friends — and since then I have only to show myself approved to God.”
The more we seek ONLY God’s plan and will in our lives, and the MORE we seek to KNOW HIM with ALL of our hearts, the more we must die to the other things around us. And the more we die to other things – the more God can use us and when HE works in our lives, our lives become AMAZINGLY BEAUTIFUL, as we show to this world how AWESOME God is!
“I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.” (Galations 2:20 – That’s a Beautiful Life!
