Proverbs 9:10 tells us, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” And in Hosea 6:6, “For I desire steadfast love and not sacrifice, the knowledge of God rather than burnt offerings.”
When King David was writing his farewell message to his son Solomon, read what He wrote in 1 Chronicles 28:9, “And you, Solomon my son, know the God of your father and serve him with a whole heart and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches all hearts and understands every plan and thought. If you seek him, he will be found by you, but if you forsake him, he will cast you off forever.”
In Proverbs 2:1-5 we find how to know God – “My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God”
To know God and all that God has revealed about Himself in His Word is the HIGHEST pursuit of a man’s life – There is NOTHING more important. That should consume our lives – KNOWING GOD!! We come to know Him by reading and studying His Word, by talking to Him in prayer, and by getting everything rid of EVERYTHING in our lives that would in ANY way prevent us from coming to TRULY KNOW HIM!
How well do you KNOW God?
