In Matthew 27:22, we read the words of Pilate, the Roman Leader, “Pilate said to them, “‘Then what shall I do with Jesus who is called Christ?'” Of course, we all know the reply he received from the hostile crowd, “Crucify Him!”, but everyone of us must answer that question in our own lives, “What will WE do with Jesus?”
There are three different responses to that important and life-changing question:
1. The Haters: Those who question Jesus’ authority over their lives and everything else, like the Jewish religious leaders of His day, “One day, as Jesus was teaching the people in the temple and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes with the elders came up and said to him, ‘Tell us by what authority you do these things, or who it is that gave you this authority.'”
2. The Indifferent: Those who just ignore Jesus and His commandments, and pretend He doesn’t even exist, like multitudes today who act like it doesn’t matter at all what they do, even ignoring the direct words from Jesus Christ Himself, “If you love me, you WILL keep my commandments!” (John 14:15)
3. The Adoring Worshipers: Those who believe in Jesus Christ and truly worship Him as Savior and Lord, like the Magi who “When they saw the star, they rejoiced exceedingly with great joy.” (Matthew 2:10). They were so overjoyed to have finally found the Messiah, the King of the Jews!
Every day of our lives and in every situation, we must answer the question “What will YOU do with Jesus?” And believe me, every decision we make in our lives matters, and it matters what we do with Him! So, at this Christmas season, don’t forget the one who was born in a stable, who loved us enough to live and die for us, and who today sits at Our Father’s right hand interceding for us each day of our lives! He was the greatest gift ever given…be careful what you do with Him in your own life each moment of each day – Hate Him, Ignore Him, or Worship and Adore Him!
