David wrote in Psalm 119:10-11 “With all my heart I have sought You; Do not let me wander from Your commandments. Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.” He knew the value of a heart that is COMPLETELY surrendered to Almighty God and His Word.
People often argue or complain, “Well, I really enjoy doing this or that. I know it might be wrong, but I enjoy doing it – so I continue.” And they try to find out any argument at all to “justify” what they do. They say, “well, it’s just too hard to give it up and “COMPLETELY” follow God.” But, the TRUTH of the matter is, they just don’t want to give it up. They claim to love God and seek Him, but they are only making a “claim” – a claim they are NOT backing up with their actions.
Jesus spoke about people like that in Matthew 15:8, “‘These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me.”
Proverbs 23:7 says, “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he…” In order to truly experience God we MUST MUST MUST seek after Him with ALL of our heart!!! He MUST be the ONE THING that drives us…Seeking Him must CONSUME our lives.
I really think this world today is in such bad shape because SO FEW people who claim to be Christians are really willing to give up EVERYTHING to follow Him.
Evangelist D. L. Moody once said, “The world has yet to see what God can do with and for and through and in and by the man who is fully and wholly consecrated to Him. I will try my utmost to be that man.” And God used him GREATLY in his life.
God WILL work GREATLY in our lives as well WHEN WE SEEK HIM entirely.
Oh, the Joys and Excitement we miss out on by NOT being willing to give up this world to KNOW Christ.
Read what Paul wrote in Philippians 3:7-15:
“But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ, and may be found in Him, not having a righteousness of my own derived from the Law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which comes from God on the basis of faith, that I may know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death; in order that I may attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained it or have already become perfect, but I press on so that I may lay hold of that for which also I was laid hold of by Christ Jesus. Brethren, I do not regard myself as having laid hold of it yet; but one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, have this attitude; and if in anything you have a different attitude, God will reveal that also to you;”
He knew the VALUE of a HEART TOTALLY given to God. Does GOD have your Heart? Or are you content to give it to your flesh and this world?
