Proverbs 3:13-18 tells us, “Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who lay hold of her; those who hold her fast are called blessed.”
So, why is it we are many times more concerned about our the value of our bank accounts and possesions than we are about gaining the wisdom that is found in God? I fear we have allowed the values and priorities of the world around us to consume us instead of following the commandment to love not the world, neither the things that are in the world, and the commandment to lay not up treasure on earth.
We place too much value on things that will one day pass away and be lost, and too little value on that which will last for all of eternity. It’s time we truly understand what is really worth having, or should I say what is PRICELESS…and that is the wisdom we can find by walking with God each moment of our lives.
