Philippians 4:13 reminds us, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” The key phrase in that verse is “through Christ”. It is through HIM and HIM ALONE that we can find strength to do what He commands us to do.
Picture an automobile. Gasoline prices here in Atlanta have been a little high lately due to a pipeline leakage. So, one could get rather frustrated and say “You know what! I’m just going to put water in my automobile instead of gasoline!” Well, one could certainly do that, all they have to do is remove the gas cap, and pour the water in. However, if we did that, our automobile would not go ANYWHERE! We could fill the tank completely to the brim with water. We could even buy the finest, cleanest, and purest water we could find, and it STILL wouldn’t work. Why? Because obviously an automobile is made to run on gasoline! The gasoline ingniting in the engine is what gives it the power.
The same is true with our lives as Christians. We are made to run on the power found ONLY in Jesus Christ. NOTHING else will work. NOTHING else at ALL!! So, if we want our lives to be useful to Him, we have to learn that all that matters is that we get to know Him more and more. The more we know Him, the more we read His Word and talk with Him, and the more we remove from our hearts and lives ANYTHING at all that is keeping us from knowing Him, the more power we will find to accomplish whatever HE wants us to accomplish!
He is the Source of our strength. Not our ability, our power, our strength, our money, or ANYTHING else we have. It is CHRIST ALONE!
