In Ephesians 5:15, Paul reminds us, “Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise” Solomon wrote in Proverbs 15:21, “Folly is joy to him who lacks sense, But a man of understanding walks straight.”
It is very important that we pay very close attention to the way we live as Christians. Too many times we convince ourselves that one little “sin” or something isn’t really going to harm us, when the reality is that every single time we disobey God it harms us! Oh, we may not see the effects immediately, but believe me – each wrong step has a profound affect on our lives.
I recently saw a video on YouTube that gave an overview of Donald Trump’s private jetliner. In the video, the man who oversees, plans, and pilots the jet gave a tour of the aircraft. As he walked through the gold-plated cabin and pointed out the various luxurious items, he said that they constantly went over the entire interior with white gloves and inspected every single inch of it, because Donald Trump would notice if even one little scratch was visible or one little item was out of place.
While that may be a little over-the-top for just an airplane, that really is the way we should view our lives as Christians. We should so constantly guard our lives, our words, our thoughts, and our actions that even one little wrong choice makes us feel out of place. Remember, we will give an account to God one day of how we have lived this life.
The Christian life is not one to be taken lightly. Watch VERY closely how you live each day. “Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him” (Ephesians 1:4)
Yes. Our sins are forgiven as a child of the King. However, we’re still responsible for how we live each moment of each day of our lives, and our wrong choices still have consequences!
