In Psalm 119:59-60 David wrote, “I considered my ways and turned my feet to Your testimonies. I hastened and did not delay to keep Your commandments.”
He stopped and looked seriously at his life, at the path he was headed down and what lay ahead. The more he looked at his own life, the more he realized he was NOT on the right path. But, he didn’t just shrug his shoulders and say “oh well, one day I’ll get it right.” No, he “hastened” or QUICKLY said “I must get my life on the RIGHT path!”
We can do nothing about our past. We can’t change a thing. However, we CAN change tomorrow by doing what’s right today! I’ve been doing a lot of considering my own path lately, I seriously want to be on the RIGHT path and follow God with ALL of my heart, mind, and life.
David said “I HASTENED and DID NOT DELAY…” to get back on the path of DAILY following Jesus Christ. Following Jesus guarantees our peace, joy, and blessing not only in this life but also in the life to come. He will meet and supply our every need!
Following the paths of this world and/or of our flesh guarantee NOTHING! In fact, they lead to discouragement and pain.
If you were lost in a jungle, who would you want to lead you out? Someone who knows the jungle inside and out, knows all of the dangerous spots, knows what areas to avoid? Or someone who is also lost in the same jungle?
Well, obviously God knows the true and right path to follow in this world – He’s the one who created us. Stop trying to make your own path or follow the path of others – FOLLOW HIM!
